This is my personal academic site. There are no accounts and no advertising. Two things here involve your data: the contact form, and analytics. This page says what each one does, who receives it, and how to stop the second.
It collects your name, your email address and your message. Nothing else, and nothing until you press Send. I use it to read what you sent and reply to it. I don't sell it, rent it or pass it on.
The form is delivered by Web3Forms, which passes the submission to my inbox and processes it on my behalf under its own terms.
You consent when you tick the box and send the form, and you can withdraw that consent whenever you like. Ask through the form and I'll delete what you sent, and tell you when it's done. Otherwise submissions stay in my email for as long as the correspondence is useful.
This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. I use it to know whether anyone is reading and whether a link I shared went anywhere — nothing more. I don't build profiles, run advertising, or try to work out who an individual visitor is, and the reports I see are aggregate.
It works by setting cookies in your browser and sending Google the page you're on, your IP address, and basic details about your browser and device. Google processes that under its own privacy terms and is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for transfers out of the UK and EEA.
Turn it off, if you'd rather. This stops counting you on this browser. The setting lives in your browser only, so repeat it on each device.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, this site turns analytics off for you automatically — you don't have to do anything here. You can also block it with your browser's tracking protection, a tracker blocker, or Google's own opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.
The site is static and served by GitHub Pages. GitHub records standard server information, including your IP address, to serve pages and protect the service. I don't receive those logs and can't see individual visitors.
Everything else the page needs — the typeface, the stylesheet, the code that draws the readouts — is served from this domain. There is no font CDN, no analytics beyond the one named above, no advertising network, and no embedded third-party widgets.
So, in full, the services that may receive data:
Some of these process data outside the UK and EEA, under the safeguards their own terms set out.
This site honours it. A browser sending Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control is not counted, and nothing further is asked of you.
If you're in the UK or EEA you can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it or delete it, object to my holding it, or withdraw your consent. Ask through the contact form. There's no charge, and I'll respond within a month.
If you think I've handled your data badly and I haven't put it right, you can complain to your national data protection authority — in the UK, the ICO.
New versions go here, and the date at the top changes with them.
